Seeking Persephone -- by Sarah M. Eden

I was scrolling through IG one afternoon and stumbled upon several reels advertising a new movie called "Seeking Persephone". I did some Googling and discovered it was a book. Normally, I am out of the loop and don't realize something is a book until after I've seen it. This time I decided not to do that. I decided I would be patient and read the book before I spent the money (it wasn't streaming at the point) to buy the movie. Ok, I say "movie", but it's really a mini-series. Anyway, I bought the book on my Kindle.

Persephone is the oldest daughter of a poor scholar. When her mother passed away after the birth of her youngest sister, she had to grow up way too soon. She shouldered burdens no young girl should have to shoulder. One fateful day, she is called upon to make the biggest sacrifice she has had to make for the sake of her family. She has to marry the feared Duke of Kielder. 

The Duke of Kielder is known for his bad temper. He is reclusive. The little everyone knows about him adds to the fear they hold of him. He marries for selfish reasons and is not excited at all about the idea of it. 

As Persephone and the Duke break down each other's walls, they find something neither of them thought would happen.

Sarah M. Eden is an absolutely delightful author. This book had me laughing, nearly crying (I am not a crier), sitting on the edge of my couch, and completely binging the entire series! It was sweet, charming, suspenseful, and not Hallmark cheesy! The characters felt like friends. It was absolutely adorable. 

This is the first book in a five book series.

~Spice: 🔥 None. Kisses only.

~Language: None

~Cautions: There are a few moments where the Duke's temper gets the better of him and he threatens violence toward several people. These are mostly talk. One character has a moment of peril. These things are mild and not any scarier than Beauty and the Beast. (See what I did there?)

~Age: Teen/Adult

~Overall thoughts: This book puts Hallmark to shame. You will feel like you personally know the characters by the end. If you don't love this book, let me know why* either here or on my IG (@the.plot.peeker).

Welcome to The Plot Peeker!

  Hello and welcome to my brand new blog!  I have spent the last few years trying to get into blogging and I have struggled. Big time. All the how-to things say, "Find your niche." Well, that's easier said than done. I love doing so many things. Basically, anything creative I have tried. Eden Mercer K-9 Mystery Thriller -- by Paige Black

 Eden Mercer is a young, K-9 cop in the small town of Nightfall, Oregon. Not only does she have the trials of being a young, female police officer, her past haunts her in ways that takes years of therapy to work through. An abusive cult-leader father, running away from the cult as a teenager, and now trying to liberate her mother and her other siblings before it's too late for all of them. At first, I wasn't sure where the author was going with these books and I almost gave up on the first one. By the end of the first book, however, I was surprisingly emotionally invested in Eden's life. I wanted her to find her siblings, to be accepted by her coworkers for the smart, hard working officer she is.  Each book in this series is, in my opinion, better than the one before. Paige Black seems to find her rhythm the more of the story she writes.  These books are all interconnected and should be read in order.
