Seeking Persephone -- by Sarah M. Eden

I was scrolling through IG one afternoon and stumbled upon several reels advertising a new movie called "Seeking Persephone". I did some Googling and discovered it was a book. Normally, I am out of the loop and don't realize something is a book until after  I've seen it. This time I decided not to do that. I decided I would be patient and read the book before I spent the money (it wasn't streaming at the point) to buy the movie. Ok, I say "movie", but it's really a mini-series. Anyway, I bought the book on my Kindle. Persephone is the oldest daughter of a poor scholar. When her mother passed away after the birth of her youngest sister, she had to grow up way too soon. She shouldered burdens no young girl should have to shoulder. One fateful day, she is called upon to make the biggest sacrifice she has had to make for the sake of her family. She has to marry the feared Duke of Kielder.  The Duke of Kielder is known for his bad temper. He is reclusive....

The Never Game -- by Jeffery Deaver

I listened to this book through Audible. The narrator was great, but the book itself was a little underwhelming. It jumps around a lot and the plot did not feel cohesive. I'm still not 100% sure I know exactly what was going with the character or even who the main villain/culprit was.  However, I am willing to give the second book a chance. I felt that the author was trying to find his groove with this book and that things might come together more cohesively in the next book.  This is the first book in a five book series with five short stories that are intertwined. Colter Shaw is known for being able to find anything--people included. His father taught him how to track, how to think outside the box, how to be aware of his surroundings, and how to handle himself when trouble comes. Colter finds people for a living now and when he's hired by a distressed father to find his daughter, the young tracker finds himself in over his head amidst the world of video games and gamers.
